Every filmmaker has a story that knocks on the door of their consciousness until it is finally let out. For me, that story is *DGP Kashmir*.
Growing up in Kashmir, the landscapes people see on postcards were my everyday reality. But alongside the breathtaking beauty of the Valley, I lived through its complex realities, its shifts, and the quiet undercurrents of fear and struggle that defined past eras. Those childhood memories leave an indelible mark on your creative soul.
As the region transitions into a beautiful, normal rhythm today, I found myself looking back at the silent pillars of strength that made this peace possible—the Jammu & Kashmir police personnel and jawans. These are the unsung heroes who put everything on the line, day in and day out, for the country and its people.
### A Story of Humanity, Not Politics
When we officially launched the teaser for *DGP Kashmir* in Mumbai alongside our incredible team at T3S Entertainment, the most frequent question I faced was about the political angle.
I want to be entirely clear: this film belongs to no political wave or movement. It is a deeply human story. It is the journey of a soldier, a protector, and the ultimate sacrifices made behind the uniform. It is an exploration of duty, resilience, and the real-life incidents that rarely make it to the mainstream headlines.
### Bringing the Vision to Life
To tell a story of this magnitude, you need a cast that doesn’t just act, but feels the weight of the narrative. Watching Daisy Shah step effortlessly into the demanding shoes of an IPS Officer—bringing her sharp focus and real-life marksmanship to the screen—has been incredible. Collaborating with powerhouses like Puneet Issar, Sharib Hashmi, Ashmit Patel, Mir Sarwar, and hearing the legendary Sukhwinder Singh breathe life into our soundtrack has been a humbling experience for me as a director.
We have completed roughly 40% of our principal photography on location in Kashmir, capturing the raw, authentic essence of the environment. As we prepare to head back into the Valley this July to shoot the remaining sequences, my goal remains steadfast: to deliver an authentic, gripping, and emotionally resonant cinematic experience.
*DGP Kashmir* is more than a project; it is a piece of my lived experience, a tribute to valiance, and a letter of gratitude to the protectors of the Valley. I cannot wait to share it with all of you in theatres by the end of this year.
