Every region has stories that deserve to be told, and for me, DGP Kashmir is one such story. This film was born from memories, experiences, and incidents that deeply impacted me while growing up in Kashmir.
The journey of creating DGP Kashmir began with a desire to showcase the sacrifices made by police personnel who serve under challenging circumstances. Their courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting civilians often go unnoticed. Through this film, I wanted to bring their stories to the forefront.
One of the incidents that inspired me was the tragic killing of DSP Ayoub Pandith, an event that left a lasting impression on me. It reminded me of the risks faced daily by officers who dedicate their lives to maintaining peace and security. The film also draws inspiration from events connected to the Hazratbal area, where security personnel played a crucial role in safeguarding civilians during difficult situations.
Casting Daisy Shah as an IPS officer was a significant decision. She connected strongly with the character and embraced the role with passion and sincerity. Her performance adds depth and authenticity to the story.
DGP Kashmir is not merely an action drama. It is a story about humanity, duty, sacrifice, and hope. At its heart, the film carries a message of peace and understanding. It seeks to highlight the emotional struggles faced by security personnel and their families while emphasizing the importance of protecting innocent lives.
This project also marks my transition from directing music videos and albums to feature filmmaking. It has been a challenging yet rewarding experience, and I hope audiences will connect with the film's message and remember its story for years to come.
Through DGP Kashmir, I aim to honor those who serve selflessly and inspire greater appreciation for the sacrifices made by the men and women who work tirelessly to keep society safe.
